Imagine being taller than everyone you know by the time you reach 11 years old. Such was the case for Melisa, who was diagnosed in 1991 with a connective tissue disorder called Marfan Syndrome. While her friends gathered at the playground, Melisa frequented Children’s Hospital in Boston learning about her condition, receiving world class treatment, and figuring out how to deal with chronic illness. But, with consistent monitoring of her medical condition, the support of her family and friends, and a sense of humor, Melisa lives a normal lifestyle despite her medical issues.
