As revealed in last night’s Episode 16: Season of Compassion with Rick Doane Dr. Angela and Dr. Stephanie are asking listeners to donate a little bit of their green to support others in need this holiday season. Interfaith Social Services  provides food to families facing food insecurity. They also provide sliding scale mental health services and homelessness prevention. Every year, ISS hosts a Gala that provides about half of the funds needed to keep these services going.

Upcoming Guest: Rick Doane, Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services

Rick received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts; and he completed his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Rick has worked and volunteered in a number of capacities at nonprofit organizations throughout Massachusetts and around the world. From 2004-2009 he was Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger’s Allocations and Operations Manager; where he helped oversee the annual allocation of over two million dollars in funding to anti-hunger organizations throughout Massachusetts. Service to others has always been a guiding principle in Rick’s life. From 1999 – 2001 he served as a missionary in Sao Paulo, Brazil for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He currently volunteers in a variety of capacities within his local congregation. Rick also serves on a number of nonprofit boards including: The Randolph Community Partnership, Health Imperatives’ Blue Hills Parenting and Healthy Families, Quincy Lions Club, Suffolk, Norfolk and Middlesex counties’ Emergency Food and Shelter Program; BID Milton Hospital Community Benefits Advisory Board; he is a past board member of The South Shore Charter Public School. In 2011 Rick was named one of South Shore Star’s 40 under 40 emerging leaders. Rick and his wife live in Randolph with their three sons.

For the past 20 years, Kevin has participated in the World Championship Punkin Chunk. Kevin and his fellow teammates (all engineers–go figure) compete in the Torsion Division with Mista Ballista. The team has been featured on the History Channel and the Science Channel. Kevin also is married to Dr. Angela (lucky guy!) so he was only a “little coerced” into being a guest on Chasing the Mind.
